Before you ask
The questions students ask us most.
The short answers
Do I need to be an engineer?
No. The brief cannot be answered by engineers alone. A team without someone who can handle the environmental, ethical and governance side will lose to a team that has one.
Do I need a team to sign up?
No. Register on your own and come to Team Match Night in November. A good number of teams form there every year.
What if I have never entered a competition before?
The autumn Labs exist for exactly this. They run monthly from October, they are open to anyone, and they build the skills the competition needs in the order you need them.
Can I take part if I am not at AUC?
Yes. Students at other Egyptian universities can attend on campus, and international students can compete through the online track.
What language is it in?
Arabic or English, your choice, for both your written submission and your pitch.
Is there a cost?
No. Entry is free.
What do I actually get out of it?
A finished piece of work for your portfolio, mentorship from people working in the field, feedback on your submission whether or not you reach the finals, and for the strongest teams a place in the Beyond incubation bootcamp with the AUC Venture Lab.
